About Us

At Fleece and Anvil, our mission is to provide Yakima-area fiber enthusiasts with high-quality yarn and wool they can experience locally and also provide opportunities to gather together and learn new techniques.

Whether your love is knitting, you have a passion for crochet or are a die-hard spinner and weaver, we want you to feel included at Fleece and Anvil. Beginners and experienced fiber enthusiasts need a place they can gather to build community and share knowledge. We will be offering all types of classes, from beginner-level to skill-building.

What’s the Anvil all about? Fleece and Anvil began when two people that had “weird hobbies” met (and eventually got married…we like each other…a lot). Joking that we formed a two-person renaissance faire, the loves of our respective hobbies got us thinking. What about all the other people out there with weird hobbies? Or people who want to learn these hobbies? Where do they go to find support and classes? The answer was that we were being called to be those people and that place. Just get either of us talking about our craft and you will likely find yourself getting exited too.

Hand-forged home goods are the current focus of our blacksmith Curt. His hooks are amazingly useful and strong; you’ll wonder how you did without them! The spatulas and steak turners he creates are bound to become your favorite grilling tool and have that old-world feel that tells you this won’t fall apart in your lifetime.

Yarn, wool, notions and patterns are what Carrie spends most of her free time immersed in. If asked “what would you do with a million dollars?”, her answer would always be “pay off my debts and open a yarn store”. One of those is achievable! Knitting and spinning are her two biggest loves, at the moment, but crochet and weaving are close behind them. She loves to talk about anything fiber and is always excited to help someone with their projects or get started with a hobby.
